Here are the awesome works of art that are on display at the CalvArt Gallery in Prince Frederick this month! The show is on display until April 29, 2015. Feel free to stop by during normal business hours (usually 11am-5pm) and check out the artwork by our talented students at Windy Hill Middle! There is a variety of work by all three grade levels including mixed media, clay, self portraits, and pastel landscapes. I am very thankful the the Arts Council of Calvert County provides the schools with a space to showcase our students' work. Please go out and support them. Also, while you're there, you can check out the amazing local artists as well. They have a variety of work on display from driftwood sculptures, photography, paintings, jewelry, and clay and glass sculptures. It is a very cool place located close to the Greene Turtle and Sakura in Prince Frederick.
On another note, I have to apologize for being so terrible at updating this site this year! It has been a crazy busy few months and this has simply fallen by the wayside. I did get married in December, so you may notice that I have a new name...don't worry, it's still me. :-)
I am looking forward to closing the year with a new group of sixth and seventh graders and continuing to see my eighth graders develop their skills and talents. Currently, the 8th grade is working on a color theory painting on a subject of their choice. We are reviewing color schemes and how color speaks to them and the viewer of their artwork. I purchased canvases for them to paint on this year and I think most of them are pretty excited about the project. I plan to post the paintings when they are finished. Be on the lookout for at least one more update before this year is over! Thanks for stopping by!
