Thank you to all who attended Open House last week! At the beginning of the year, all students created an "Op Art Adjective Design" in order to share some things about themselves with me and with each other. I hope you got to see their work hanging up in the hallway. Here is a sneak peek of some of the current projects our students are working on. (I am having issues uploading the photos so be on the look out this week for photos to be posted separately. You've gotta love technology!)
6th grade finished up their Knights in Shining Armor. They learned about the Repousse technique and translated it into aluminum to create some awesome designs! I will post more photos of their finished work at the end of this week. We have since started studying the Elements of Art and creating a unique composition using those elements.
7th grade just finished their "Shades of Summer Self-Portraits." Students were allowed to trace the outline of their photograph, but had to focus on adding values and using different drawing techniques in order to make their portraits look realistic. They turned out great! We are focusing on the Principle of Design, Pattern for the next project. It is a Gustav Klimt-inspired design using a magazine photo and metallic scratchboard.
8th grade is working on reviewing the elements of art by incorporating value, texture, shape, and color into a realistic drawing of their shoe. They've been working hard and their work will be posted within the next two weeks. Here are some of them hard at work!
